Ayub Bachchu's sixth death anniversary will be observed on Friday

On Friday, the country observes the fifth anniversary of the passing of Ayub Bachchu, the renowned rock superstar of Bangladesh, who was celebrated as a singer, guitarist, composer, and music director.

Ayub Bachchu, widely celebrated as one of the most esteemed rockstars in the nation, passed away on this day in 2018 at the age of 56 due to a cardiac arrest at his residence in Moghbazar, the capital city.

The iconic frontman and founding member of the renowned Bangladeshi rock band Love Runs Blind, commonly referred to as LRB, is being commemorated today by his family, fans, friends, admirers, and the media.

Among the tributes, the Chittagong Musician's Club, the Ayub Bachchu Foundation, along with friends and admirers of the beloved rock star, are organizing a special ‘Dowa Mahfil’ at the Celebration Community Point in Moghbazar at 6:30 PM.

Additionally, fans and supporters of Ayub Bachchu are holding commemorative events across the country to honor his legacy.

Born on August 16, 1962, in Patiya, Khorna Union, Chittagong, to Mohammad Ishaque Chowdhury and Nurjahan Begum, Bachchu established his band LRB in his hometown in 1991.

Before this, he began his musical journey with the band "Golden Boys," which was later renamed "Ugly Boys," a group he co-founded with his childhood friend and prominent Bangladeshi singer Kumar Bishwajit.

He also made significant contributions to other notable Bangladeshi bands, including Feelings and Souls. While with Feelings, he collaborated with another contemporary rock legend of Bangladesh, James.

As the frontman of LRB, Bachchu led the band in performing over a thousand concerts both domestically (more than 500 open-air and over 2000 indoor) and internationally, including their inaugural tour in the USA, where they performed in seven states.

Throughout his career, Ayub Bachchu produced a total of 16 solo albums, established a full-fledged studio-turned-production house named ‘AB Kitchen,’ and created numerous hit playback songs such as "Ammajaan," "Sagorika," "Ononto Prem," "Ami to Preme Porini," and many other scores for Bangladeshi commercial films. 

Rupali Guitar, Cholo Bodle Jai, Ekhon Onek Raat, Koshto, Shei Tumi Keno Eto Ochena Hole, Ferari Ei Monta Amar, Ekdin Ghum Bhanga Shohore, and Hashte Dekho Gaite Dekho are among the most celebrated songs performed by the esteemed band LRB.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the music industry in the country, he was honored with an unprecedented six Meril Prothom Alo Awards, as well as one Citycell-Channel I Music Award in collaboration with LRB. Additionally, he received the Bachsas Award for Best Male Vocal in 2004 and was presented with the Tele Cine Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

The rock icon was laid to rest in Chaitanya Goli, Chittagong, adjacent to his mother's grave.
